Houseboats

Home Houseboats

Kerala Houseboats are traditional country boats that were originally employed to carry cargo from the remote backwater villages of Kerala. These days, Kerala houseboats, or kettuvalloms, are returned as a popular tourist destination. They are contemporary moving boat houses. Kerala houseboats range in size from large models that are up to 107 feet long and 19 feet wide, to smaller models that are roughly 95 feet long and 13 feet wide. The largest houseboats have one bedroom and are situated in the middle. All locally sourced and environmentally safe materials are used in the creation of the bamboo poles, coir rugs, bamboo mats, and ropes made of coconut fibre. Kerala houseboats come equipped with a sundeck, a private balcony with cosy chairs, a kitchen, a toilet with a WC, and five bedrooms, all of which are completely furnished.
